This is seriously fricking awesome. A bit less quotable than some of his previous work but the line ‘I ain’t Mumford/I ain’t trying to have sons/All I wanted was some more like Ashton’ is pretty good.

Mid Morning Music Video #253 - ‘Rolling In The Deep’ by Adele (Jamie XX Remix, ft. Childish Gambino)
Still think Adele is crap, but the Jamie XX remix of ‘Rolling In The Deep’ is excellent. Really looking forward to hearing the work he’s done with Drake for ‘Take Care’. Glover’s rap is by turns excellent and hilarious. ‘Come back to me like hipsters to blogspot’ is one of the best lyrics he’s written outside of ‘Freaks And Geeks’. Hope he carries on this fine run he’s on over to the full length Gambino record that’s allegedly dropping in September.

Mid Morning Music Video #216 - ‘Be Alone’ by Childish Gambino
Just sit back and listen. This Childish Gambino EP is one of the best things musically I’ve heard this year, it’s so bloody good, Donald is on amazing form - ‘my swag Jehovah Witness dude, it never take a holiday’ and ‘set the game ablaze I’m an Arcade Fire’ are my favourite lines from this one, ‘Freaks & Geeks’ is full of lyrical brilliance (seriously, I’d post a huge list of awesome lyrics from that song alone but it would basically be all the lyrics) and the other three songs have at least three lyrics each which make me think ‘fuck, this is incredible’ every time. Seriously worth a look, even if you only have a mild interest in this stuff, in fact, fuck it, even if you have no interest in this stuff, you HAVE to hear Donald Glover rap the line ‘in the back of a bush like Gavin Rossdale’s drummer’ on ‘Freaks & Geeks’ because that shit is awesome. Anyway, ‘Be Alone’ is the opening track from the EP, and is the sort of easy laid back beats that should be on the new Drake album married to a rap that I kind of think Drake could only dream of doing at some point, but at other points believe he could really nail, except that Donald has done it better than Drake ever would. And I bloody love Drake, so this has got to be some awesome shit, right?
