Mid Morning Music Video #318 - ‘200x’ by Johnny Foreigner
Meanwhile, in the world of kindaemoindierock, Johnny Foreigner are proving they can recover from the slight blip of ‘Grace And The Bigger Picture’ on third album proper ‘…vs Everything’, which seems to improve at every turn (or, song released to listen to). This is the kind of delicate, twinkly, affecting song that all albums should include to sit amongst the five bazillion mile an hour Cap’n Jazz-a-like songs. Gorgeous, and very nice indeed.
A couple of new Johnny Foreigner songs.
#228:
Johnny Foreigner Vs You (Cursed Version) by johnny foreigner
This one’s called ‘Johnny Foreigner Vs You’. It has a piano on it, one bit of guitar at the end and other than that doesn’t have anything else except vocals. It’s wonderful, in the way quiet JoFo has been recently. ‘So let’s not kid ourselves into romance/knew this would end without fireworks’
#229:
What Drummers Get by johnny foreigner
This one’s called ‘What Drummers Get’ and is ‘proper’ Jofo, in the way that ‘proper’ JoFo sounds like Cap’n Jazz and American Football speeding past you on the motorway at twice your speed. Equally wonderful, for different reasons. ‘And as for him? Oh, he’s moving to Birmingham. Oooooooh SWEET!’.
[This blog has gone back to what it would have been like if it had existed in early 2008 in the last two posts]
Mid Morning (afternoon. Yeah, I know. Whatever.) Music Video #whatever (105. I knew that) - ‘All Moseley Gardens’ by Johnny Foreigner
This is, basically, my favourite Johnny Foreigner song. Second favourite, actually, after ‘This Band Is Killing Us’ but there are NO VIDEOS for that one, so you’re going to have to make do with this. Glockenspielerrifcarama. This is supposedly the ‘Like You Mostly Late At Never’, but really it could also be the ‘Arcs Across The City’ one because they’re basically identical, and is probably their most goosebump raising moment, all downbeat and emotional and stuff and lovely. ‘And you’re never going to change your mind’ is probably the most poetically emotionally destructive line Alexei has ever managed. Blissfully lovely.
Mid Morning Music Video #4: Custom Scenes And The Parties That Made Them, Johnny Foreigner
Simply put, the best song on the new JoFo album.
