A documentary on Kenickie, filmed on their last UK tour. Probably my favourite thing on youtube.

(Wait, hang on, fuck me, is that Kieron Gillen in the second part, 3:25 in?)

Mid Morning Music Video #320 - ‘In Your Car’ by Kenicki [Live on Jools Holland]
File under: reunions that would be more exciting than that one with that band from Manchester that’s happening next year.
(It’s a pretty big file, including almost every band that has ever spliit up ever.)
Mid Morning Music Video #259 - ‘In Your Car’ by Kenickie
Few things can put a smile on my face on the bus in the morning as much as the opening thrum and rush of ‘In Your Car’. Incredible. This is from Jools Holland, so live, and Lauren sings the wrong lyrics in the first post-‘yeah yeah’ bit.
Mid Morning Music Video #231 - ‘Nightlife’ by Kenickie [including interview/promo on Fresh POP!]
The perfect dissection of how fucking ridiculous nights out are. The Best. The Very, Very Best.

Mid Morning Music Video #219 - ‘Acetone’ by Kenickie [in session for Stuart Maconie]
Still the best musical act the UK produced in the 90s. This has a cello on it. It is incredible.
Mid Morning Music Video #97 - ‘Come Out 2 Nite’ and ‘Can I Take U 2 The Cinema?’ by Kenickie [Acoustic, Peel Session versions]
Kenickie’s Peel Sessions are very, very ace, and this is…perhaps not a choice cut, but a personal favourite. ‘Can I Take U 2 The Cinema?’ is probably my favourite Kenickie song, and the acoustic version is awash with ‘oooh’s and bongos and harmonies going all over the place. ‘Come Out 2nite’ is probably my favourite song from the debut album ‘At The Club’ and is completely different here to how it was on record, without the handclaps that make the song so vital on the album, but stripped back and sparse it shows off the lyrical prowess at the heart of the band as they dissect a messy night out on the streets of Sunderland. Listen and love, guys, listen and love.

Mid Morning Music Video #65 - ‘Stay In The Sun’ by Kenickie
Oi, sunshine, where’d you go? It’s gone grey again, but I’m blasting this (and the rest of ‘Get In’) through my headphones and pretending I’m lying in a park with a book and the sun coming down (does sun ‘come down’ in the way that the impending rain shower is going to? I’m not even sure). About two years ago I’d just finished uni and spent the following week and a half doing this and reading through the works of various books I hadn’t read during exams. Wild times, I assure you. But I get sidetracked - this here is three minutes and forty four seconds of summer diluted down to a super concentrate and then burned on to a four and three quarter inch diameter circle of shiny plastic before being fed back into your brain via your ears, to take up residence in your frontal lobe for the next oooooooh two weeks, perhaps? That catchy. It’s awesome. I less than three Kenickie.

Mid Morning music video #6: People We Want (live at Reading), Kenickie
At other points in time, I know Kenickie were the best band that ever existed.
And happy hour had lasted all night
She thought for once
She had found someone right
