Mid Morning Music Video #322 - ‘One More Hour’ by Sleater-Kinney
More and more, this becomes my favourite song of all time. It’s three minutes and twenty one seconds of utter, utter perfection. I have it on a pretty vinyl at home, and it pleases me that I own it.
Mid Morning Music Video #31 - ‘One More Hour’ by Sleater-Kinney [Live from their last ever show back in 2006]
Words cannot describe how much I love Sleater-Kinney. It’s one of the things I rarely actually remember, but they, along with Pavement, were the band that pulled me out of listening to crap circa 2005. ‘Dig Me Out’ remains, to me, just as vital a record today, five years on, as it did then, and this song, this absolutely stupendous, amazing song, is the one song you need in your life right now. It’s about (apparently) the break-up of Corin Tucker and Carrie Brownstein’s relationship and, if you go beyond the up beat music, it’s a sad lament of that relationship ending - ‘I’ll hold you close/Before I leave’ and ‘Don’t say another word/About the other girl’. Pure perfection. More people should like Sleater-Kinney. This video, by the way, is of them playing the song as the last song they played at their last gig.
