Mid Morning Music Video #332 - ‘Chains Of Love’ by Ryan Adams
Ryan Adams is a handsome man. Also, got my tickets for his Sheffield City Hall date this morning for Rosie and I, so that’s VERY EXCITING. ‘Ashes & Fire’ is very easily in my top five albums from last year.
Mid Morning Music Video #290 - ‘Avalanche’ by Ryan Adams
Favourite song from my favourite album ever. Not sure why it’s set to screenshots of ‘One Tree Hill’, but never mind. This is perfection.
Mid Morning Music Video #213 - ‘Please Do Not Let Me Go’ by Ryan Adams
From the spectacular best album ever ‘Love Is Hell’, ‘Please Do Not Let Me Go’ is just Ryan crooning over a strummed acoustic guitar, initially, before slide guitar ghosts in on the first two choruses. And then there’s this great bit where, as an outro, piano and drums come in and the whole thing goes catastrophically heartbreaking via the medium of music. It’s amazing. Hell, that album is amazing, really, if you have not heard ‘Love Is Hell’ go and do it now on Spotify. It is the best album of all time. Ever. EVER.
Mid Morning Music Video #184 - ‘La Cienega Just Smiled’ by Ryan Adams [The Suicide Handbook version]
I have toothache caused by a wisdom tooth coming through and a belly ache caused by reasons unknown today. This is making it all better. This is my favourite officially released non-‘Love Is Hell’ Ryan Adams song when it’s in ‘Gold’ version. But in this version, from the abandoned Suicide Handbook album (which was recorded as the initial follow up to Heartbreaker and then dropped because the album didn’t like it) is all sparse, just Ryan and an acoustic guitae, and it’s bloody wonderful. The Suicide Handbook has the makings of being an absurdly good album, the version I have off of the internets is 21 songs long, but really it’s some of Adams’ best work, mostly either like this or string drenched wonderfulness. So lovely. I still rate Ryan Adams as my favourite ever musical artist, regardless of what I say about other people.

Mid Morning Music Video #90 - ‘This House Is Not For Sale’ by Ryan Adams [Live on Later]
Probably the worst sound on a video on youtube, but hey. This is from my Favourite Album In The World Ever (Those That I Have Heard, At Least) ‘Love Is Hell’, which is…well, it’s the greatest album ever. I put it on on my zen yesterday and since then have listened to it about three times, because when it gets on it stays on repeat for a few days. It’s almost a bit too hard edged in this live version, but it’s a pretty accurate representation of the album sound, just a bit more cranked up, volume-wise. But that album as a whole is just…wow. It’s the first album I got where I genuinely remember the first time I listened to it. That good.
Mid Morning Music Video #44 - ‘Come Pick Me Up’ by Ryan Adams [Live, on Letterman]
I’m sure, one hundred percent dead certian, that this is my favourite Ryan Adams song. It’s beautiful. And check out him working that harmonica! Ah wonderful. The song is pretty much just a classic Ryan Adams song, but it’s so fantastic that it’s completely worth the listen even if you don’t like Ryan Adams.
Mid Morning Music Video #11 - ‘La Cienega Just Smiled’ by Ryan Adams [Live & Acoustic]
My head is a constant battle over which Ryan Adams song I like the most. It almost changes every time I hear any song by him, to be honest, but there are four or five which constantly rattle around my head. This is one of those four or five. Simpler than the recorded version that is on ‘Gold’, stripped back to the far more enchanting vocals + acoustic guitar equation which almost always is when Adams is at his best (not that the recorded version, which still has plenty of delicacy about it, is any lesser than this), this is possibly the most perfect four or so minutes of music you’ll hear today (hyperbole = completely deserved).
